Multi-Purpose Dye For natural fabrics, nylon and Lycra® (elastane).
DYLON has a whole range of multi-purpose fabric dye colours - ready to be used alone or mixed together to create a unique colour. DYLON Multi-Purpose is a non-colourfast dye. It can be used with a wide range of fabrics including cotton, linen, rayon, hemp, jute, wool, silk, nylon and Lycra® (elastane). You will get lighter shades on polyester/cotton mixes because polyester does not pick up dye. This product is also great for dyeing decorative items such as feathers, grasses and buttons.
Helpful Hints: Adding salt to water and dye solution will help to open fabric pores making the fabric absorb more dye. This will result in richer, more vibrant colours. One package of powder is sufficient to dye up to 250g / 8oz dry weight fabric. Wash garment / fabric thoroughly to remove grim or manufacturer’s additives. Garment / fabric should be damp before dyeing. Complete dyeing instructions are included with each package of fabric dye. Visit www.dylon.co.uk for additional dyeing ideas.
Natural Fabric Dye
DYLON Natural Fabric Dye is best suited for natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, viscose, rayon, and ramie. Wool, silk, poly-cotton and poly blendes will dye to a lighter shade. When dyeing polyester blends, it is only the natural fibres that absorb the dye, which is why they dye to a lighter shade. There is a rainbow of colours to choose from and an endless number of ways to use them. DYLON Natural Fabric Dye can help you to be more environmentally conscious. • spruce up faded clothes by dyeing them back to their original vibrant colour • update clothing by changing the colour to reflect seasonal trends • give a personal touch to “Vintage” clothing
Helpful Hints: Adding salt to water and dye solution will help to open fabric pores making the fabric absorb more dye. This will result in richer more vibrant colours. For best results use 1 package of dye for every 250g /8oz. of fabric; the more fabric you dye the lighter shade you will get. Some “Finishing” processes (waterproofing, stain repellence, moiré) will affect the dyeing process.
